Tokyo Disneyland!

Home in Sweden finally. Well..
This Monday we went to downtown Machida.

We ate at a really good ramen restaurant, and then Kentaro and I spent the rest of the evening playing games.

On Tuesday Rebecca and I went to Harajuku to buy alot of stuff, and on Wednesday we went to Tokyo Disneyland with Michiyo and Misako!

It was really awesome. I love the scenery there, and all the different fun rollercoasters and such.
I felt sad knowing this was the last day for us in Tokyo.. for this time.

I hope I can go back there soon again.

Today we've been to Närcon, and will go back there tomorrow. Check my blog for updates soon again!

I will update my blog more when I am back in Sweden.

We will leave tomorrow/today, and head back home to Sweden. This weekend I will probably go to NärCon, the local anime convention. Probably I will post updates about it in this blog (photos & videos).

I will also try to upload more videos from Japan & Korea, and also post some more photos. Sure, I've posted alot of videos and photos but still they're only about 5 % of actual photos/videos I've taken.

We had a great time today at Tokyo Disneyland. It was the perfect finish to our fantastic trip.

Summary of the weekend

Friday was actually a calm, lazy day for us, as we just went to Shinjuku at the evening. Quite obvious, thinking about the all-nighter the night before..

On Saturday it was Rebecca's birthday! We planned to meet Sente & Vanessa in Asakusa at the huge Hanabi. We were unlucky, cause the phones stopped working so we couldn't find each other. Such a shame. The news said that there were estimated 2 million people there during the evening. Crazy.

Well, later home in Machida we went with Amanda & Kentaro to a nearby bar. We had a really nice time together! Some delicious dishes served with the beer. Lovely :P.

Yesterday, Sunday, we went to Yokohama! We went to the beach in Zushi and spent most of our day there with Hide & Tsuyoshi. Actually I didn't swim at all, I just sat at the beach and drank some alcoholic beverages. Haha, I enjoyed it. The view was beautiful!

We pulled an all-nighter once again. This time in Yokohama, at a Karaoke place. So fun! I will for sure miss Japan alot. But it's not over yet. Not yet..

Hanabi

Yesterday was the first full day in Japan since our return from Korea.

Rebecca and I went to meet Michiyo at Adachi-ku. It was so crowded. There were people everywhere, everyone heading for the same direction; to go to watch the awesome hanabi fireworks.

The fireworks were amazing. It lasted for about one hour, and lots of people everywhere. It took quite a long while to get to the train station afterwards..

Well, we went to Shibuya to the bar Raku. I got to know Taka, who works there - and Yuuka, a friend of the other people since earlier.
We pulled an all-nighter and had lots of fun. In the morning we ate some delicious ramen before heading home to Machida.

Goodbye, Korea

Today we went around Hongdae for a while before meeting up with Cecilia at the Ewha's Woman University subway station.
The plans were to go to dressing cafe´s to dress up in hanbok but because of lack of money we focused on walking around a little in the area. We went to the Ewha's Woman University, a really beautiful university I must say.

We got some very nice gifts from Cecilia.
I got a Nell CD, and I am so thankful. She is so nice!! It was great meeting Cecilia, Ringo & Hyunjung here in Korea, and I will miss them much! Thanks to them we discovered some great shopping areas, got to try delicious Korean food and also got to visit the awesome Gyeongbokgung palace!

I don't know when I will be able to visit South Korea again, but hopefully sometime soon in the future - when I wish I could have the possibility to meet my biological mother.
Of course I am disappointed in not being able to meet her, but still I am very happy for getting in contact with her through letters. It was a strange feeling, walking around in Seoul knowing that the person sitting next to you in the subway could be your uncle, your cousin, your father and so on..
I hope that I can get to know more about my family in the future. I hope they will get to know about my existence.

Right now I am sitting here at the guesthouse in the middle of the night, waiting for the bus which will take us to Incheon Airport in the morning .

I really recommend the guesthouse we stayed at. If you ever come to Seoul, you should think of staying at Hong Guesthouse.
Hong Guesthouse is located 5 min from HongIk University subway station, which is part of the subway's Green Line. The green subway line is like Tokyo's Yamanote line, in the centre of the city - connecting to many of the major lines. There's also Hongdae district here, with lots of fun shops, restaurants, bars and stuff - so it's always close to entertainment. The guesthouse itself is & looks very nice, and the owner of the place has been very helpful & nice during our stay. I will miss this place.

I will miss Korea.

Gyeongbokgung

Today we went to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace built during Joseon dynasty.

Amazing architecture, and a really beautiful view! Nothing much more to say. Just enjoy the photos ^^. Tomorrow we will meet Cecilia & Ringo again and go to a dress cafe, where you can wear traditional Korean dresses (Hanbok).

Weekend!

Yeah, weekend was awesome.
On Saturday at about 5 pm we met up with Ringo at Anguk station (I think?). Cecilia was a bit late so we strolled around a little in the rain, and also went to a HUGE music instrument store. Kinda interesting!

At last Cecilia arrived, and we went to eat cold noodles.
For me, cold noodles is nothing new; but still this was new to me as it was served with ice cubes - ice-cold noodles! Wow. Pretty tasty! We then went to gaming centre for a while and then ended up taking purikura, which was alot of fun.
We also took a visit to Baskins-Robbins for some icecream.

At evening we went to Hongdae to drink and have fun.
At first we ate at KFC. Wow, seems like there was no salt in my french fries, and there were no salt to find at all in the restaurant. Kinda sucked, but oh well. We ended up at HO-bar, some bar that seemed good, with alot of foreigners in it. Well, the waitress (or whatever) at that place was kinda rude so we left pretty early. It turned out to be nothing more than.. well.. a ho-bar.

At last we found a good Korean bar! It was in izakaya-style, and we had a fun night together; eating and drinking. It was so cheap too! About.. 5000 won each, which is about... 34 Swedish kronor, or about 380-400 Japanese yen. We ordered a big jug of beer, alot of different dishes and a bottle of sake.

On Sunday we went around Myongdong, looked around in a few stores and also went to a huge combined book & music store.
Before that we ate a good breakfast at Mr Pizza.
I found alot of interesting CD's, even though I didn't buy anything. Maybe I should've bought a Nell album. It would've been worth it. Oh well, I can go back there someday.... or maybe not? Already on Wednesday we will go back to Japan.

Dongdaemun

Today we went shopping with Hyunjung at Dongdaemun.

It was raining like crazy, still I enjoyed the weather as it wasnt as hot as usual.

In Dongdaemun it was so many different small clothing shops everywhere in many different buildings with alot of floors. I found some nice T-shirts that I bought. I am glad Hyunjung were nice to help us with talking to the sellers, as it's common that foreigners get tricked into paying too much.
Quite funny how everyone thought I was Japanese. Yeah, fashion is very different here than from Japan. Still you can find really nice things for very cheap prices!

We ate some really good food at a restaurant. So delicious. For my first time I drank Korean beer (Cass). Not much of a taste experience, but very easy to drink and to get drunk at.
I also today tried gimbap for the first time. Surprisingly good!

Tonight we are eventually going clubbing, or maybe just relax at the guesthouse. Tomorrow we are going to meet Cecilia and Ringo. It will be lots and lots of fun! Looking forward to it.

South Korea

Me and Rebecca are finally in South Korea now.

We arrived at Incheon Airport about 9 pm yesterday (Wednesday). It feels... undescribable.. very strange. It took about two hours 'til we arrived to the guesthouse here in Mapo-gu in Seoul. It's a very nice, big guesthouse with lots of other guests from different parts of the world.

Today we met the worker at Social Welfare Society who helped me get in contact with my biological mother. She was a very nice person, and even treated us a good meal at an excellent bulgogi restaurant.

At evening, after taking a nap, we met up with Cecilia & Hyunjung with her boyfriend. It was very fun. Actually I have been talking with Cecilia & Hyunjung for about 4 years online, so finally we got to meet each other in real life.
We went to a good, inexpensive bar; drank and had fun.
After that Cecilia, me and Rebecca went around to look in alot of shops in the area (Hongdae), and ended up in Starbucks after a while cause of me getting hungry.

Machida!!

So it was the last day of our stay in the guesthouse in Musashi-seki. I will miss that place. Almost felt like home..

We went with all our luggage to Machida. It was quite a trouble since it was so crowded at some places. Shibuya were very crowded.. as usual.

Well, finally we are here in Machida at Ken & Amanda's place. Tomorrow Rebecca and me are leaving to go to South Korea. We will stay there for a week; then head back to Japan for one more week.

Not sure if I will update my blog tomorrow, but we'll see.

Karaoke!!!

At Sunday we went to Harajuku. It was really crowded. Quite obvious since it was Sunday.

We went around in a few shops, and after a while we met up with Hide outside Laforet. We went shopping for a while, then headed to Shinjuku to some gaming centres to play games, and then ended up in a very good izakaya. We at first ordered a big jug of beer, but got a regular sized beer. As they realized their misunderstanding, we got a regular beer plus the big beer for the same price as one. Very good service. We also ordered some tasty sidedishes, which were surprisingly good!

At last we went to Karaoke around midnight, and also paid for nomihodai (to drink alcoholic beverages as much you want, 'til 5 in the morning!)
We had an awesome time together. And yeah, I actually sung. Horribly offtune. Still.... awesome night together.

Shabu-shabu

Yesterday we met Kentaro & Amanda.

We went to eat Shabu-shabu tabehodai at a restaurant. It was delicious. The meat was really good and tender. There were three different types of dipping sauces; soy based sauce, miso based sauce & sesame based sauce. I think I preferred the sesame one, as I thought soy was too salty, and miso too spicy.

After that we ended up in a really good izakaya, with really cheap prices. We ordered some beverages and sidedishes & had a fun time together.

Ebisu & Ginza

We went to Ebisu garden yesterday.

Really beautiful place, so I took alot of photos. It's a beer museum at that place, with free entrance. It was interesting. Especially fun was it to try different kinds of their beer (by a cost of 500 yen). Their original lager type of beer, a type of weissbier, an ale and their dark beer. I'm not sure which one I prefered, but I liked their ale.

After that we went to downtown Ebisu, and found a very good Ramen restaurant. Very tasty!

We also took a short visit to Ginza. Lots of expensive brand shops and stuff, but also cheap brands like H&M or Uniqlo. We took a visit to Princess Heart, some sort of theme-based cafe.

After that we went to Shinjuku to go to the Dining Bee bar. Very expensive place, but it was ok anyway.

Today we will meet up with Kentaro & Amanda, and go eat Shabu-shabu tabehodai (eat-as-much-you-want).

We went shopping with Hide & Tsuyoshi.

Plans were to go to the beach today, but cause of rainy weather it was cancelled. Anyway, we went shopping. It was warm weather, but I guess I am getting more and more used to it, so it was fine.

At evening we went to a restaurant and ate some food. I ate some decent tonkatsu.
We had a fun time together. Today we will probably go to Ginza & Ebisu.

On Tuesday I just relaxed.

While Rebecca and Malin went to Shinjuku I just stayed at the guesthouse and relaxed. I went to the konbini and bought some different kind of bottled ice coffee's and tried these, and spent a long time by the computer. Maybe stupid of me, but I needed to relax for one day to get more energy for the rest of the week.
At evening we went to the izakaya nearby us, and ate a little.

Today we went to Ikebukoro and met up with Hide and Tsuyoshi. We had a great time together! We went to the Namco Namja Town in the Sunshine City shopping complex. It had different kind of attractions and themed dining places and stuff. Fun things like different kind of ice cream with all weird kind of flavors! Also a haunted house, which actually werent that very scary... but I got scared anyway cause I'm so easily scared.

The gyoza part of Namja Town was awesome. You could buy all kind of variations of gyoza. I picked the cheese & corn gyoza's. I guess people wont get surprised, as I love cheese. It was good! Malin, Rebecca & Tsuyoshi picked teriyaki flavored gyoza. These were really good! I don't remember the name of the gyoza that Hide ordered. It looked good though.

At last we went to a type of izakaya or something, with Italian food. It was very inexpensive, and very very tasty. I will for sure go there if I go to Ikebukoro some more time.

Tanabata

Yesterday we met Michiyo and Misako. We got some awesome yukatas from them, as a gift. It was really nice of them, and we had a fun day together.

As it's Tanabata celebrations going on, we went to the temple close to Tokyo Tower. It was difficult to walk in the shoes, but with time I got used to it. At the temple we wrote wishes on papers, and tied them to trees.

Then we went to the Tokyo Tower. Free entry for everyone wearing yukatas, so it was good.
The view from the tower is impressive. We stayed there 'til sunset and it was a beautiful view to watch.
With time we all got really hungry, so we ate at a restaurant in one of Tokyo Tower's bottom floors.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Yeah, been a few days since I updated my blog.

Well, at Friday we went to Akihabara. I already love that place. So many fun stores to look in, and.. sooo many weird stores also haha. It was a nice day, and we ate good food (some curry rice tonkatsu) and then went to a gaming center where we met up with Tsuyoshi and Hide!

We went drinking in Shinjuku at an izakaya. We had lots of fun, but actually I had too much to drink so the next day, Saturday, I woke up with quite a hangover and felt like staying home all day.

But well, I went with Rebecca and Malin to Shibuya 109. It was a 5 days bargain so it was lots and lots of people t!! Never seen that many people in one place at a time. Not even at concerts or festivals. And people were really loud so I almost got a headache after a while.

At evening we met up with Amanda, and some people I've never met before. Akira, Nana and some more people. We went to a very small bar to get a little to drink before we went to Chelsea Hotel for the Mighty Pop club. It was like.. a British indie pop club. Quite okay, and it was a good live band performing there.
I was still hungry though so we went to a konbini, where we met some random people. For example a completely random swedish guy from Gävle, who was waaaay more drunk than anyone else. Well, it was quite entertaining.

But after a while back in the club I got so tired of all the sounds (still trauma after 109 :P), so I went outside. Then Amanda didn't feel very well so we helped her to get home to her apartment in Machida (where Kentaro also lives).

So calm, peaceful and with a beautiful scenery.
Well, today we woke up hungry so we went to a Chinese buffet nearby. It was really good. Way much better than those gross Chinese buffets in Sweden :P.

After we finished that buffet Rebecca and I went back to Musashiseki, and now I am sitting here really tired.

Some good news also. I finally got my first letter from my Korean mom, so I am very, very happy.

Shin-okubo & Shinjuku

Yeah, I woke up late yesterday. As did Rebecca and Malin.

Actually Malin had quite a hangover, so she stayed at home while me and Rebecca decided to visit the "Koreatown" in Shin-okubo, and then walk to Shinjuku and look in some shops and play games at game centers.

At evening we went to a yakiniku place close to our guesthouse. We had plans to take a visit to Gyu-kaku but unfortunately it was closed....

Akihabara is planned for today, so I am in a hurry now to update the blog :P.

Harajuku once again. Yeah, it's been pretty much of it lately..

But there's good reasons for it. Rebecca went for yet another photoshoot, and Malin and I went to look in a few stores. There's tons of them so it never ends. You always find new and cool stuff to buy...

At evening we met up with Rebecca. We ate some kaiten-zushi and then went to the bar close to our guesthouse in Musashi-seki. I like that place!

Today we went to Harajuku again, and then to Shibuya where I and Rebecca ate a nice dinner at an italian restaurant. <3>

Btw, tomorrow it's plans to go to AKIHABARA!

Musashi-seki

Today we spent most of our time at home and around Musashi-seki.

We strolled around, looked in some stores and ate some delicious ramen. The ramen was great, but I still find it hard to eat it the way that the Japanese people do it. I have to get used to it!
I bought a magazine at a store, as I want some inspiration with hairstyles and clothing. I really love Japanese fashion.

I can't sleep right now, and it's in the middle of the night which sucks..
Well, hope I can get enough rest...

We went to Takeshita-dori once again.

I bought some shirts today, which I am really happy for. It's quite a big difference on prices depending on shops, and brands. Well, quite obvious heh..

It was raining alot today. Everyone walked around with umbrellas, so imagine a Sunday with lots and lots of people in Shibuya, and everyone bringing umbrellas. It was crazy. I guess I'll have to get used to it.

After a while we met up with Ryosuke outside Laforet. We went to a cafe for a nice cup of coffee, then we took a taxi and went to a bar in Shibuya where we spent the rest of the evening. We had an awesome time together. Rebecca and I went home to Musashi-seki before midnight, while Malin spent her night in Shibuya.

Today.. we will go around and explore Musashi-seki a little more. Videos are soon coming up..

Another day in Shibuya

Rebecca went for her photoshoot for Bodyline today.

Malin and I went to eat some Curry Rice (or more like.. some similar tomato rice-thing?) for breakfast. Then we went to Shibuya to meet up with Amanda & Kentaro at the Hachiko statue in Shibuya.

It was very, very, very (x10) crowded today. We went to some shops and met Yoshi in an arcade gaming hall, and then waited for Rebecca to arrive at 8 pm.

Then we ended up in a Sweets Buffet. A buffet with sweets and stuff. I'm glad they served curry rice and some various cold pasta dishes, as I don't like sweets that very much.

Takeshita-dori, bar in Shibuya

Yesterday we met Michiyo and Misako.

Two friends of Rebecca & Malin since earlier. It was really fun, as I finally got to know them too! We met at Takeshita-dori and went to eat at a really good tonkatsu restaurant.

Then we went to look around in a few shops. Well, I was really tired in my legs so I just wanted to sit down somewhere. So we went to Starbucks after a while.

Well, we took a walk to Shibuya to visit Tower Records. We found the Velonica single by Aqua Timez with Malin on the cover. Very funny!

And then we ended up at an awesome bar with good prices! I ordered beer, schochu, cocktails and some really tasty sidedishes, such as gyoza and kimchi. Very spicy kimchi :)

Harajuku & a short visit to Roppongi

Today we went to Harajuku.

Rebecca met up with the photographer of Bodyline, to discuss a photoshoot this Saturday. While she was there, Malin and I went to take a walk around Harajuku. Looked in a few clothing stores, and some music store.
After a while we went with Rebecca to Roppongi by car, as the photographer wanted to show where the photo studio is at.

Then we went back to Harajuku to enjoy some inexpensive but tasty kaiten-zushi.

Today I think we will meet up with Malin & Rebecca's friends. Will be fun to get to know them.

Harajuku, Shibuya & Karaoke!

We went out pretty late today. Our late breakfast was at a nearby food chain, where we ate really good and inexpensive curry rice. Then we went to Harajuku...

Pretty interesting place, with lots of cool stores. We spent some time at the Softbank store as Malin bought a Japanese cellphone. Then we strolled around a little & looked around in clothing stores, and I ended up at a hairdresser.

Then we went to the bar Hub, where we got to know two guys named Tsuyoshi and Hide (?). After a while we took a walk to Shibuya, to end up in a karaoke place 'til 5 am in the morning. We had a really fun time together.

Yesterday at evening we went to Shinjuku.
Just strolled around. Very nice place I must say.

We went to a decent restaurant and ate some food. My first real meal after arriving to Tokyo. Then back at Musashi-seki we went to a bar nearby our guesthouse.

I have recorded alot of videos, but I will wait for tonight or tomorrow morning 'til I upload it.

Today we will go to Harajuku. The weather seems to be fine today, though it was raining early this morning.

Hm. I need a haircut.

I have arrived in Tokyo!

Yes, this will be my first "real" post of my Japan blog.
Me & Rebecca arrived to Narita Airport a few hours ago and went by train to our guesthouse. The weather right now is really hot and humid, but still enjoyable. A good excuse to drink litres of soda.

Our flight (British Airways) went from Arlanda to Heathrow airport, and then from Heathrow to Narita airport right outside of Tokyo. As people would expect from me, my biggest excitement was to try all the awesome airplane food that I was served.

Sweden from above

The food was good, and the entertainment onboard was decent. I watched the movie Life is beautiful, which actually was a really awesome one. I have no idea why I haven't watched that one earlier.

I was really excited arriving in Japan, but I wonder why the workers at the airport insisted to talk with me in Japanese all the time, even through I was in line for people visiting Japan without japanese citizenship.
I am glad though that no one mentioned anything about the snus I brought with me. Yay, I will survive these five ½ weeks! It will be an awesome adventure.

Not sure what our plans are for tonight, but soon Malin will arrive in Japan and stay in this guesthouse also. We will wait for her, and then probably go somewhere together.

Leaving today finally!

Well, more like 24 hours from now actually, as we will go to the airport by night.

Alright, so 1 day left.
